Joint Meeting with the Stevens Alumni Environmental Professionals Club
October 12, 2006

The most recent meeting of the Civil Engineering & Construction club was a special joint meeting co-hosted with the Environmental Professionals Club on October 12, 2006.

The evening began on campus with a wine-and-cheese reception in the Edwin A. Stevens Building. Following the reception, we were treated to a fascinating talk by Alan H. Blumberg, Ph.D., Director of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering and Christos Christodoulatos, Ph.D., Professor and Director of the Center for Environmental Systems.

The discussion led by Dr. Blumberg and Dr. Christodoulatos focused on the on-going research activities and capabilities of the Stevens Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering Department and laboratories, and the efforts being conducted by Stevens to ensure that Stevens will continue to advance its already-lofty position in the upper echelon of the nation's research institutions.

The discussion also touched on Stevens' continuing efforts to maintain existing, and to create new, partnerships with the business community as a means of developing more research projects.

Following the presentation by Dr. Blumberg and Dr. Christodoulatos, the group strolled over to Tutta Pasta on Washington Street for a delicious Italian dinner and some lively discussion.

This was a really enjoyable and interesting evening. Make plans to join us for the next meeting of the Civil Engineering and Construction Club, coming in Spring 2007!
