"Teaming to Re-Build Transportation Facilities in Lower Manhattan"
and
"New Jersey Schools Build for the Future"
September 14, 2004

The most recent meeting of the Civil Engineering & Construction club was a special joint event in association with the Middlesex-Somerset Club. The meeting was held at the Building Contractors Association of New Jersey in Edison, NJ, and featured presentations by two distinguished leaders in the engineering and construction business: Ray Finnegan, Program Executive, Parsons Brinckerhoff and John Spencer, Chief Executive Officer, New Jersey Schools Construction Authority.

Ray kicked-off the evening's program with "Teaming to Re-Build Transportation Facilities in Lower Manhattan", a discussion of Parsons Brinckerhoff's role as construction manager of the joint program between MTA and the Port Authority of NY & NJ to re-build lower Manhattan's rail transportation system. As he led the group through the planning of the project and the challenges being encountered, Ray gave a first-hand look at the innovative techniques and technology being used to manage this massive project.

After Ray fielded questions from the audience, John Spencer took the podium to present "New Jersey Schools Build for the Future". John gave a great overview of NJSCC's mission of managing the $8.6 billion Schools Construction Program in New Jersey. John also gave some insight on how to do business with the NJSCC, which was well received by the many consulting engineers and contractors in the audience!
